Doris
Fekken, owner and operator of Jumpin' Java in Grand
Haven, is the 2003 Woman Entrepreneur of the Year from the
89th House District, state Rep. Barb Vander Veen announced.
At a bipartisan Lansing luncheon celebrating Women Entrepreneurial
Day, Fekken was honored for her determination, integrity and
desire to serve others.
"It is such a pleasure to take time to recognize someone
so worthy of recognition," said Vander Veen, (R) Allendale.
"Doris has endured when others would have thrown in the
towel. Her servant's heart makes every customer feel as though
they are not only welcomed, but appreciated." |

| "Fekken
really cares about the community and the people in it.
She donates coffee to many community events such as walkers
in the March of Dimes and Alzheimer's Walks. She donates coffee
to the school for prom night. Jumpin' Java is open all night
on prom night so students have a safe place to hang out; and
she's open on New Year's Eve to give the community another
spot to celebrate," Vander Veen said. "Doris says
she likes to think of the work she does as 'passing a blessing.'
And that is certainly what she does. I am so happy to honor
her in this way." |
